Happy New Year

Melancholy Mummy Posted on January 2, 2021 by MelancholyMummyJanuary 2, 2021

It’s a new dawn. It’s a new day. It’s a new year. Will 2021 be better than 2020? I sincerely hope so, but I have my doubts. Here in England, we’re in something very akin to lockdown (again) as our … Continue reading →

I thought I’d bring some holiday feeling to my books on Wattpad, so I changed their covers for the season. What do you think?

PitMad

Melancholy Mummy Posted on December 15, 2020 by MelancholyMummyDecember 17, 2020

There’s a quarterly event on Twitter called PitMad, where hopeful writers such as myself can throw their book pitches out into the void in the hopes of catching a like. Basically, some agents and sometimes publishers will look through the … Continue reading →

Current WIPs

Melancholy Mummy Posted on November 15, 2020 by MelancholyMummyJanuary 2, 2021

I have a few works in progress currently, with a plan of releasing the first few of a series of shorter novels next year. I’m hoping that it will spur me on to keep writing. To get there, I still … Continue reading →

NaNo Boot Camp: Result

Melancholy Mummy Posted on October 2, 2020 by MelancholyMummyOctober 2, 2020

So, the two weeks of my writing group’s little NaNo Boot Camp have finished, and well… I think we can safely say that I’m not quite ready for NaNo in November! I didn’t manage to write 21,000 words in two … Continue reading →

NaNo Boot Camp: Week 1

Melancholy Mummy Posted on September 24, 2020 by MelancholyMummySeptember 24, 2020

My first week of our two-week NaNo Boot Camp went better than expected! I hit my targets and after seven days I was right on track for the 21k end goal. Then the tiny tyrant decided that bedtime was a … Continue reading →

We’re All Mad Here…

Melancholy Mummy Posted on September 18, 2020 by MelancholyMummySeptember 18, 2020

In preparation for (possibly) entering NaNoWriMo in November, my writing group has arranged our own little NaNo Boot camp. It’s a lighter version where we’re writing 21k words in 14 days. (Which averages out at 1500 words per day.) As … Continue reading →

Oops, I did it again! Or something. After a lot of humming and hawing, I decided that I should start fresh with a new blog. Let’s do it right this time! The focus of the blog will be… about as … Continue reading →

Our handsome, old boy. He turned 14 at the start of March, and is finally starting to show his age. Hopefully he will still be with us for several more years. ♥
And then edit like a fiend! It's good advice to keep yourself from worrying too much about what people will think, but I personally write better if I think at least *someone* will read it!
I’m finally ready to start on my next WIP, the third novel in the Howerty series (regency romance). To get myself in the right headspace, I made a little mood board for the story.
I always feel like I’m perceptually behind, with more stories to write than time to do so. Sometimes I get so stressed I stall and can’t get anything done. So this is a good reminder to myself. Just take it calm, take a deep breath... and write something. Anything. It can be fixed in edits later.
Today is Mothering Sunday here in the UK. I've had the privilege of being the mother to this tiny tyrant for just over three years now. It's the most rewarding - and the most challenging - thing I've ever done! She is a handful (hence the tiny tyrant moniker), but she's also loving and sweet, with a wonderful sense of humour.
Romance is on a high in the Morgans household.
